Finton House pupils write letter of thanks to Perry

Perry Uniform donated two backpacks to children in Nairobi who are sponsored by Finton House School, we were touched by the pupils response to the donation and hope Bravick and Jentrix like their new backpacks.

Matilda cast kick-off Children in Need In their Perry Uniforms

The cast of the RSC's hit musical Matilda kicked off the annual BBC Children in Need on Friday hosted by Terry Wogan. The cast performed an exclusive medley of songs from the multi award winning show and displayed the true spirit of a wearing a Uniform. 

 

Catherine Mallyon, RSC Executive Director, said: “We are very proud to have been invited to open the BBC One broadcast of Children in Need this year. The whole company of Matilda The Musical has worked hard to rehearse a performance that we hope will charm audiences in the studio and across the country.”

Since 1980 Children in Need, the BBC’s UK charity has raised over £600 million to change the lives of disadvantaged and young people across the UK.

Financial Times unveil Perry’s part in the revived Yorkshire textile industry

“Mills hum to high-end order book” is the headline in a news story in the Financial Times today.  It records the resurgent textile industry of Yorkshire in which Perry Uniform and Perry Club play a prominent part.  What the FT calls “the power of heritage” has been the key to success as local textiles and clothing manufacturers appeal to the premium end of the market, a marketplace that appreciates the authenticity and history of the Yorkshire textile industry.  Perry Uniform and Perry Club are at the forefront of this trend.  The two brands are growing strongly, Perry was recently crowned Yorkshire Post Manufacturer of the Year 2013 and Bernard Bunting MD of Perry notes that the future looks bright

The FT highlights the school uniform business Perry Uniform, noting how effectively we have used the internet to find export markets.  “We have gone from a shop window looking out on Armley jail to a shop window looking out on the world,” said Mr Bunting.

Perry Win Yorkshire Post’s UK Manufacturer of the Year award 2013

Perry Uniform is delighted to have been awarded Yorkshire Post’s Manufacturer of the Year at the region’s top business awards ceremony, ‘The Business Oscars’.

The awards recognise companies that continue to grow and innovate, whatever the state of the economy. They further acknowledge and celebrate the strength and diversity of Yorkshire manufacturing. 

A new report claims that manufacturing textiles and clothing in the UK is once again commercially viable, the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills Vince Cable has lent his support to the UK textile manufacturing sector, saying he believes there is huge potential for the industry.

“There is scope for a manufacturing revival,” said Cable. “I sense that coming back, and we must encourage young people to visit factories to see it is not like their perceptions and realise they could build a career in manufacturing.”

Perry believes wholeheartedly in harnessing young talent and teaching the skill sets of textile manufacturing to aspiring young businessmen and women. Perry provides apprentice schemes, school visits and work experience with interns often landing themselves future job roles within the company.

Perry has been manufacturing quality products for over 65 years and is in full support of this resurgence within the UK.

Perry's Origins In Lonely Planet's top 3 places to visit in the world

Yorkshire is the third best region in the world to visit in 2014, according to travel guide company Lonely Planet. In its new Best in Travel 2014 publication, Lonely Planet says: “If the good people of Yorkshire were proud of their heritage before, the 2012 London Olympics only served to cement what they have always thought: that their county is better than , and really the best of  all the English counties. In a list of the top ten regions around the globe, Yorkshire was placed only below the hotly tipped and up-and-coming mountainous area of Sikkim in India and the beautiful barren landscape of The Kimberley on the Western Australian coast. Twinkle Toes for Perry in a War-time Mystery

Perry designed the costumes for a piece of dance theatre produced in collaboration with the Conservatoire de Strasbourg and l'espace Malraux, Geispolsheim. ‘The Turkey Carpet’ is performed in both English and French, to live music by Benjamin Britten.

Joe and Tom have been evacuated to their Aunt’s house in East Anglia during the Second World War.  One night, they dare each other to visit an old abandoned house out on the marshes and find they inadvertently stumble into a war-time mystery whose tragic repercussions will haunt Joe into his old age…

The story is full of musical and dance delight, don’t forget to watch out for those Perry Pinafores!

Perry hits Broadway!

Perry designed the costumes for the cast of MATILDA The Musical. From concept at the RSC Stratford, to the West End, London , and this summer 2013 to Broadway, NY. The show has been labelled ‘Magical, mischievous, miraculous! It’s more than a show, it’s a phenomenon!’ and recently won the title of ‘Best Musical Drama’ at The Drama Critics Awards.

For Matilda fans out there the show is now booking for London till 2014
so grab those tickets while you can!
